Tripping

What have we been doing all winter?? Driving and Driving -- back and forth from Evanston to Utah and back. Three weekends ago we went to Provo and Tyler's brother took us flying! What a trip. He rented a little four seater plane and we all got to take a turn in the air. Last weekend we came down to Kaysville - my uncle passed away and his funeral was last Friday. It was a bitter sweet weekend becuase we came for the funeral, but we did get to see all of my family! We also went dress shopping which was unfortunately unsuccessful. Then Mom and Dad and Katie came to Evanston for the long weekend. This weekend we're back again. This time for a play. We went and saw Fiddler on the Roof at Hale Center Theatre in West Cally. It was fantastic! We've also been taking mid week trips to Ogden to go to the temple ever week. Our car insurance bill came the other day and was a lot higher than we were expecting. Apparently we've driven many more miles than we originally reported!

Spring is on its way I hope. May be in two months

2010 come and gone??

Wow, my last post being in December I feel like the new year has come and almost gone already. Okay, not quite, but life s crazy as always and the days are flying by. Christmas was fantastic! We spent in in Idaho with my family this year and loved every minute of our break. We had a little party for New Year's Eve back here in Evanston, and then Tyler and I spent our last weekend off in Salt Lake for our anniversary. It was perfect! 1st semester ended two weeks into January and most of my kids did really well. I think teaching school is becoming easier most days than last year! Hurray. Second semester has started well. I'm teaching two Algebra classes and one geometry this time. I love the way my day is broken up. Algebra in the morning, prep, lunch, then geometry in the afternoon! My kids have been really good so far and I'm praying everyday for help to know how to best help them. My sister got engaged about two weeks ago! Yep! To an Evanston boy in fact!! she met him last May when she was staying with us. Isn't that just wild! They are getting married April 12th in the Salt Lake Temple. Katie graduates from college on the 9th and then they have one week before Cameron has to go back to school, so they wanted to spend that week married. I don't blame them!! Two weekends ago we went to see Nate play basketball. It was an awesome game. They won by 30 points or more, but Nate caught an elbow in the eye and split his eyelid right open. The blood was oosing down his face while he lookd at us on the side lines requesting a towel. It took us all a few seconds of gaucking before realizing he needed something to clean up the blood. Grose, but kindof cool! Last weekend Tyler's brothers planned a flying trip - Sterling is a pilot and Haydn leaves on his mission soon- so they wanted to all get together and go up. Unfortunately it snowed. The family didn't come up from Beaver, but we still braved the storm. Actually there wasn't a storm until we made it to Park City. Then it was a full out blizzard and it took us 3 1/2 hours to get to Provo when it should have only taken us 1 1/2. At one point we were at a complete stand still because of a wreck. Fortunately we didn't have any problems except for a little numb bum by the time we made it to Provo! The next day we went over to the planaterium in Salt Lake. We saw a 3-D video called Under the Sea on the IMAX! at one point we put the glasses on our little nephew. He then reached out to grab the fish which was pretty cute! It made for a really fun day, and the ride home was back to it's regular time. Next weekend we're going to try the Provo flight trip again. If Tyler's family decides not to come than we won't make the trip, but hopefully we can finally see everyone. My family is coming up in two weeks for Presidents day and we're going dress shopping for the wedding!! Life's fantastic! This year we've made a resolve to attend the temple more often and it has been incredible! Ogden is only 1hr 10 min away so we can go down and back in the middle of the week easy if we leave right after school! Last night we went down for our ward temple night and had an amazing time! We are just so blessed. I can't believe January is practically over and February is right around the corner. May be that means spring is on its way!!

Christmas

Wow, I have not been the best blogger lately. The last month has been full. We've had school of course and lot's of Christmas festivities. Just last week we had a party every night of the week with staff parties and church parties. After church on Sunday we left for Wendell, and here we are enjoying the company of my family as well as a break from school. My brother and Tyler have been playing with our new toy - the Wii. (Tyler bought one at Thanksgiving- his new little toy). I've been scrapbooking which is not something I get to do very often. And mostly we're enjoying a break from school. We were going to head up the hill and go tubing today but the wind has been blowing and it's freezing so we decided to wait and see what it looks like tomorrow.
We're looking forward to Christmas. Hope all is well whoever you are and that you are enjoying the holidays!

The Cockney Me

My new found friends in the thatrical world! Nicole - one of my students from last year, Ted A.K.A Alfie Doolittle, and Harry "and the bases!" - a science teacher and fantastic dancer
Mrs. Hopkins and Eliza Doolittle played by yours truely and Heather Blackwell - mother of two, director of the show, and EMS Choir Teacher
Alfie and I - Ted told me at the end of the show that he felt like he'd found another daughter in me! Cute old men are fun aren't they!?!
Of course this mixing of social classes would never happen, but Colonel Pickering and Mrs. Hopkins have alter egos who teach math right down the hall from each other at EHS!
Ah yes, the student "responsible" for my working at EHS. Andy Matthews, now a senior was a sophomore on my student council hiring committee just about two years ago.

Don't you just love that black hat? It's my favorite!!
